Brand model — goods that go through a distributor

Televisions, fridges and home appliances

A cooler that misses the summer does not wait quietly. It eats godown space and money until the next summer.

Your trade lives on a few short seasons. Coolers, fans and air conditioners in the heat, televisions and fridges around the festivals. Get the right box into the right town before the season, and you win the year. Get it wrong, and you carry the mistake for months.

The trade

How this trade really works

From the factory to the customer, each person in the chain wants something different. Most of what goes wrong comes from the gaps between them.

Early-booking schemes move the risk to the distributor

The company wants coolers and fans in godowns before the heat. So it offers a better price for booking in the cold months. The distributor books heavily to earn it. If the heat comes late, or the summer is mild, or the rains come early, those coolers do not move. The company already counted them as sold. The distributor now holds a whole season's mistake.

Bulky stock costs money just by standing

A carton of buttons fits on a shelf. A fridge needs floor space, careful stacking and more than one person to move it. Every unsold air conditioner in a godown takes the place of something that could sell. The distributor pays rent, handling and interest on it, every week, and he remembers which brand put it there.

The display piece is never sold at full price

Every dealer needs a working piece on the floor. Over months, it gets scratched, fingerprinted and dented by customers opening doors. When the model changes, that piece goes for a large discount. Multiply that across every showroom in a state, for every model, and it is a quiet loss nobody adds up.

The energy label change makes old stock hard to sell

When the energy rating rules change, a fridge or air conditioner with the old label suddenly looks worse to the customer, even if it works just as well. Distributors who still hold old-label stock near the change date must clear it at a loss. They will ask the company to share that loss.

Finance schemes decide which brand the shop pushes

The shop earns on the instalment scheme as well as on the product. If your brand's finance offer is weaker this month, the salesman will walk the customer to the next brand's fridge. He is not disloyal. He is earning his living.

Festive demand is short and fierce

Televisions and fridges sell hardest from Navratri to Diwali, and around Onam and Pongal in the south. Big cricket tournaments lift television sales too. If the right size is not with the distributor in those few weeks, the customer does not wait. He buys whatever is on the floor.

Damage in transport becomes an argument

Bulky goods get dented on trucks and in godowns. A dented box sells at a discount, even if the product inside is fine. Each damaged piece becomes a claim between the company, the transporter and the distributor. Without a clear record of what arrived and what was sold, these claims drag on.

Where the money quietly goes

What you cannot see today, and what it costs you

What is still standing in godowns after the season

When the summer ends, you know what you billed in the winter. You do not know how many coolers each distributor still holds. So next year's early booking is planned on billing, and the same distributors are asked to book again while last year's coolers are still in the corner.

Which sizes and models customers chose

A model range has several sizes and capacities. Customers in one region want the smaller fridge, in another the large one. Your plan treats them alike because you only see what left your factory. The wrong sizes pile up in the wrong towns.

Which towns had a strong season

A town that sold out in the first heat wave looks the same as a town that never sold, if both booked the same amount in winter. You cannot reward the first or help the second, because you cannot tell them apart.

How long each piece has been sitting

A television that arrived last month and one that arrived before last Diwali look the same in your records. The older one is close to the end of its model life. It needs a push now, not after the new model lands.

Whether the festive stock reached the right godowns

Before Diwali, you send stock based on last year and on who asks loudest. Some godowns are stuffed while others run out in the busiest week. You find out from complaints, after the festival is over.

A season, the way it usually goes

The story you already know

It is late March in Jaipur. The company's state manager has done well on the early-booking scheme for coolers. Distributors across Rajasthan booked heavily in the winter, and the factory has delivered. The godowns in Jaipur, Ajmer and Kota are stacked to the roof.

The heat comes late that year. When it comes, it is short, and the rains arrive early. Coolers sell in a few weeks and then stop. By July, the state manager is fielding calls. One distributor in Ajmer wants help to clear his coolers. Another in Kota has almost no space left for the festive fridges and televisions that are about to arrive. The state manager does not know which distributors are truly stuck and which are simply bargaining.

To keep peace, he offers a blanket discount on coolers across the state. Distributors who had already sold out get money they did not need. The ones who were truly stuck still carry coolers into the next year. When Diwali comes, fridges arrive late in Kota because the godown is full. The best week of the year goes to a rival brand that had stock on the floor.

With Vyavora

What you see, once your distributors bill on Vyavora

What you can now decide

Decisions you could not make before

Give help only to the godowns that need it

When the season ends early, you can see which distributors still hold coolers and which have cleared them. Help the stuck ones directly, with a push or a transfer. Do not hand a discount to the whole state. The money goes where the stock is.

Plan next year's early booking on what really sold

Before you offer next winter's scheme, look at what each distributor actually sold and what he still holds. Ask him to book against that. A distributor who is not overloaded will book again willingly next year.

Move stock between distributors before discounting

One distributor's coolers are stuck while the next district is still hot and short of stock. Move the coolers across. The same goods sell without a new discount and without new production.

Clear old-label stock before the change date

When an energy label change is coming, see exactly which distributors still hold old-label fridges and air conditioners. Push those pieces early, while they still sell near full price, instead of paying for a loss after the date.

Send festive stock where it will sell

Before Navratri, look at which sizes moved in each town last season and what each godown already holds. Send the large fridges where large fridges sell. Keep space free in the godowns that will need it for televisions.

Make the sizes customers actually take

If the smaller fridge sells and the larger one sits in one region, change the production mix for that region. Every piece you do not make is a piece you never have to discount.

Watch raw materials against production

On your own side, see compressor, panel and sheet metal stock beside your production plan. Get a warning before a part runs out in the weeks before the season, when a stopped line costs the most.

Where you get ahead

Where your competitor keeps losing

Your stock is on the floor when the season starts

A rival who plans on last year's billing has full godowns in the wrong towns and empty ones in the right towns. You send stock where it sells. In a short season, being on the floor in the right week is most of the battle.

Distributors trust you with their godown space

Godown space is the scarcest thing a distributor has. If your brand never leaves him stuck with a season's leftover, he gives you the space and the attention before every season.

You spend less on clearing mistakes

Every blanket discount, every display piece sold cheap and every old-label fridge cleared at a loss comes out of profit. A brand that sees where the stock is can avoid most of these. Over a few seasons, that becomes the difference between growing and simply surviving.

The same season, with Vyavora

The story, told again

The same late March in Jaipur. This year, every distributor in Rajasthan bills on his own Vyavora, which the company set up and pays for. The state manager can see, day by day, how many coolers are leaving each godown.

When the heat arrives late and short, he notices within days that Ajmer is barely moving while Bikaner is close to empty. He arranges for a load of coolers to go from Ajmer to Bikaner, where the heat is still on. Kota is heavy too, but the festive stock is due. So he runs a small push in Kota alone and asks the distributor to free space before the fridges arrive. Distributors who already sold out are left alone. No blanket discount is given.

By Diwali, Kota's godown has room. The large fridges go to the towns where large fridges sold last year, and the smaller ones to the rest. Televisions arrive in time for the festival week. When next winter's early booking opens, each distributor books against what he really sold. Nobody is carrying last summer's coolers into the new season.

Why the others agree to it

Everyone in the chain is better off

For the distributor

He gets a full Vyavora for his own business, usually paid for by you. It has GST billing, stock, a billing counter and accounts. It shows what each dealer owes him and sends WhatsApp messages to his dealers. Your price list arrives on its own and stays current through every scheme and price change. You see only your own goods with him. His other brands, his margins, his purchase prices, his dealer list, his expenses and his bank balance stay his alone.

For the dealer

A showroom that bills on Vyavora gets its own stock, billing and GST, and can see how long each display piece and each box has been standing. It can order from the distributor against your current price list and pay online. Billing carries on even when the internet goes down in the middle of a festival rush.

For your planning team

The people who plan production stop working from last year's billing and guesswork. They see what each region actually sold, in each size, before they plan the next season's numbers.

What this does not do

Vyavora shows your goods only with distributors who bill on Vyavora, and with dealers only where they bill on it too. It does not look into anyone's old software and does not buy data. It does not track individual units, installations, repairs or service visits. It does not tell you when the heat will come or how strong the festive season will be. It shows you what is selling and what is still sitting, as it happens, so that you can act early. The decision stays yours.

Straight answers

Questions people in this trade ask

Can I see what my distributors are holding before I open early booking?

Yes, for every distributor on Vyavora. You see what he holds of your goods and how long it has been there, so you can ask him to book against real stock.

Will a distributor accept that the company can see his stock?

He will usually accept it when he understands you see only your own goods. His other brands, his profit, his dealers and his money are never shown to you. That line is built in, not a promise.

Does it show display pieces separately?

Where the dealer bills on Vyavora, his stock is visible item by item, with how long each item has been lying. A display piece that has stood for months shows up clearly.

Can it handle many sizes and capacities of the same model?

Yes. Each size or capacity is its own item, so you see which ones move in each town.

Does it manage installation and service calls?

No. Vyavora deals with stock, billing, accounts and what has sold. Installation and service stay in whatever system you use today.

Our distributors have years of records in Excel. Must they retype them?

No. Vyavora reads the Excel and PDF files they already keep, so their stock and customer records come in without typing.
